Barbara Morris:
Why Do Old Women Become Bitter and Angry?

Certainly, not all old women become bitter and angry. But let's be real. You've probably met one or two.

I was having a discussion with a fortyish doctor friend who specializes in achieving wellness and he commented that so many of his older female patients are bitter and angry and he couldn't understand why.

He doesn't understand for three reasons. He's young, he's happy and he's not a woman.

You have to live long enough to understand why so many old women are bitter and angry. I explained that a major reason for bitterness and anger is a feeling of being unfulfilled (usually an unhappy marriage). Being unable to deal with advanced chronological age can intensify the angst.

Mary Lloyd:
Learning Resilience . . .

The current stresses have a lot of us feeling we’re pushing bus-sized boulders up the Matterhorn.  The trauma of having so much change so fast for so many is truly numbing.  But we still have to live it.  So the question becomes:  How do I do this well?  What can I change about the way I’m going at it that would make it easier?

Well, I’m not sure a major upheaval can ever be “easy.”

What’s Cluttering Your Life?

If you ever feel overwhelmed, pause for a moment and look around you. More than likely, there’s clutter in your physical (outer) space, which means there’s clutter in your inner space. A funny thing happens when you get rid of clutter in your physical space: you see your life. You lighten up in more ways than one.

Years back, I worked at a job with a hectic pace and loads of paperwork.

Nancy Weber: Olive Oil is Not Just for Cooking

When I was in Cabo San Lucas last November, I ran out of  body lotion.  The water there is so hard and my skin got so dry with all the sun, salt water, etc.  As I was saying, I came out of the shower one evening and found I didn't have anything to put on my skin so I remembered I had a bottle of olive oil in the kitchen.  I got it and put it on my face, and all over by body.  Well, my skin just sucked it in like a sponge.  I was so surprised because I thought I was going to be greasy all over.  Not at all!  To make a long story short, I decided to give olive oil a try.  Well, let me tell you, I've been using it ever since and I haven't used anything else for my face or my body.  My skin is amazing.  Now I know that they're making products with olive oil in it but save your money.  Just make sure it's extra virgin and cold pressed.  It's a little more money but "you're worth it".  I usually shower at night because of my early rise.  You don't have to worry about your bedding because by the time you get in bed, it's absorbed totally.  The next day, your skin will feel like velvet.  Give it at least 2 weeks to see the real benefits.  Your skin will thank you.

Linda Franklin: Executive Interning Over 40 -  A Great Way To Re-Invent Yourself

All of us are familiar with the traditional definition of an intern.  It's usually a student that you invite into your business to lend a hand in exchange for course credit and some on-the-job training. However, these tough economic times is making it necessary for many women to re-enter the workforce. Now we have Executive Interns, a new term coined to describe a woman over 40 applying for these positions that have entered the mainstream.
It’s a win/win situation. The company wins from the experience of the intern for little or no money.  The intern learns wins by learning new skills that will prepare her for the next job.
