I'm Putting Old on Hold -- You Can Do it Too!
By Nancy Weber
Barbara, I was raised by my grandmother
(maternal) who lived with us. My mother was was always ill with some migraines
or stomach problems. If she wasn't in bed, she was at a doctor's office. She
became a prescription drug addict. In fact, I hardly remember her as a child.
She died at 79 from stomach cancer - the doctors said it
could have been from all the prescription drugs she ingested over her lifetime.
I truly believe she would have lived longer if she had lived her life
differently. Her mom was 93 when she died, never sick a day in her life. She ate
several small meals a day and went up and down the stairs serving my mom when
she was in bed her three meals. She moved around all day.
I swore I wouldn't never be like my mom and I'm not. I'm 60 years old,
5'1", weigh approx 105 lbs. work out almost every day. I run on the
treadmill in winter, downhill ski the Rockies, play tennis in the summer,
swim whenever we go south, still do all my own housework every week I have a
3500 sq. ft. house). I have several clients with small businesses for which
I do accounting, so I work 5 days a week at a "regular job". Four evenings
a week I work at a well known gym as a personal trainer, one evening and 4-5
hours on Saturday, I do private personal training. I rest on Sundays (oh,
wait I do my housework, laundry, ironing, shopping, etc. on Sundays). Then
I start all over again on Monday at 5:30 a.m.
I am a powerhouse of strength but only because I work at it. You don't wake
up one morning and there it is. I believe in eating "clean", i.e., limit
processed sugar, white flour, starches, eat lots of veggies and fruit and
lots of fiber. I love donuts but limit myself to 2-3 a year.
I have been an advocate of "putting old on hold" for years. Everyone
listens because it's fascinating but only a few really believe it and do it.
Motivating others has been the biggest challenge for me. I have seen
success in my clients who listen and believe it can be done. I really want
to help people, especially women my age younger/older. I say to them: "If I
can do it, so can you". Most of them don't believe I'm 60, they say "wait
til you get to be my age then you'll see how hard it is to exercise". Some
are younger than me but when I tell them, they say: "well you've been doing
it for a long time". I can't win!! I will not give up though.
I'd love to correspond with you. Send you email to Barbara@PutOldonHold.com and put Nancy Weber in the subject line. Barbara will forward it to me. I'll be sure to get back to you.

of the anti-aging odyssey. I've lived through this process. I know it
